It's Almost Grandparent's Day! (Free Printable)

Last year I forgot all about Grandparent's Day, which is too bad since it was my parent's first time being grandparents. It is coming up this Sunday, September 8th if you are wondering when it is this year. I know it's not as huge a deal as Mother's or Father's Day, but it's kind of nice to recognize them, especially when they are as helpful as ours are!

To celebrate our wonderful grandparents, I made a cute print that will be available to download for free! Three different color combinations and they are all 5x7 inches so they can be easily framed. Let me know what you think of them! What is everyone else doing for Grandparent's Day this year?

Nursery Printables

Something I've been wanting to do for awhile now is design some prints to put up in our nursery. I've had ideas in my head but never actually sat down to do them. Now that the little peanuts are almost here (less than two weeks!) I decided I should do it now or I might put it off for another year again!

So I made a birth announcement print for little man, but of course I have to wait to finish the details on the twins' still. I also made a fourth print with a cute quote on it about little boys. That way I can hang them in a group of 4 frames. I included a link to the quote printable at the end of the post if anyone wants to use it! I usually bring my files to Office Max to get printed. I did that with my Father's Day one last week and it was only $0.52 to print. I'd rather pay that than use my ink jet printer at home, I think it looks much better.

I've always loved this quote, I think its so cute. Good thing we are having all boys, right?! I can't wait till they get here! If you are looking for a last-minute Father's Day gift, you can check out my free printable. I framed mine and it will make a lovely gift. Also, here is the link to download the Little Boys Quote Printable if you are interested.

DIY Cake Banner

DIY Cake Banner

I've seen these cake banners all over Pinterest so I decided to try to make one for Little Man's birthday cake. If you saw my post on Monday with pictures from his party, you probably already saw the cake that I made. It was pretty easy to make these cute little banners, I printed them out from the computer but you could easily just cut out triangles from colored cardstock instead. If you like the red and yellow banners I used, I have a link to download them or just make your own! I made mine 1.5 inches wide.

Here is what you will need before making these banners:
  • Printout of triangles or colored cardstock
  • Push pin
  • String
  • 2 bamboo skewers
  • Scissors

1. Cut out the triangles you printed or make a pattern to trace onto the cardstock and cut out as many triangles as you need.

2. Use the push pin to make holes in each corner of the triangles.
DIY Cake BannerWiggle it around so that the holes are big enough for the string to fit through.

3. Cut a length of string that will be long enough and thread through the triangles from front to back.

4. Tie each end of the string of triangles to a bamboo skewer. Trim the excess string with scissors.

5. Stick the skewers into the cake and enjoy how awesome your cake looks!

Free Father's Day Printable!

I started writing this post last night but then realized I couldn't because my husband was sitting right next to me and he would see what I'm giving him for Father's Day. So I saved it for this morning, but then woke up to the internet being down! How depressing! I don't even know how I survived before I had internet and social media. It has kind of taken over my life, which probably isn't a good thing.

I realized that everything was online, the recipe I was making for dinner tonight, the recipe for the fondant I need to make today for little man's birthday cake, the directions for my various sewing projects...This made me decide that I should probably print off some of these things so that I can have access to them when the internet is being wonky, which thankfully is pretty rare.

This printable is half of the gift that little man and I are giving Daddy for Father's Day. I still need to get it printed and framed, hopefully I can do that soon.

This is my first time using Google Docs to share a file, so please let me know if it isn't working! The printable is 8x10 inches so it will fit nicely in a standard frame.
